The Duetto Shared Chapter Mask Sculpture is a poetic art piece that captures the intimacy of reading together and sharing stories. Created exclusively for Dea’rt Istanbul by artist and restorer Derya Kurdoğlu, this base mounted sculpture shows two fragmented faces leaning into a single open book – one in deep platinum grey, the other in warm bronze gold, both held by a sculpted dark arm.

Inspiration – Two Voices, One Story

Kurdoğlu imagined Duetto as a tribute to couples and companions who grow together through books, conversation and curiosity. The platinum toned face suggests reason, reflection and clarity; the bronze face carries warmth, emotion and sensitivity. As they lean over the same open page, their differences harmonize into a single narrative.

The broken, mask like faces evoke the idea that we never show ourselves fully, yet in moments of deep connection – like reading aloud, learning, or sharing ideas – we reveal more than we realize. The metallic surfaces are deliberately distressed, recalling aged sculptures and timeless stories that have been told and retold across generations.
